The Code Red app
What it is and what it does
Code Red is a service for people who suffer from chronic pain, and for their families and friends. Chronic pain impacts quality of life when physical discomfort interferes with every day life and further leads to emotional challenges. This doesn’t just impact the person suffering from chronic pain, but many of their family members, friends and colleagues.
Code Red is a companion app that does two main things:
- 1. Tracking: Tracking and visualising your pain over time so you can see the progression of pain and pain level correlation with your daily activities and/or medication. This can help facilitate better communication with your medical team and care givers so they can recommend and adjust a course of treatment actions.
- 2. Escalation: Simplifies the communication process between sender and its multiple recipients. It allows people to alert their assigned friends and family of a real-time need for support, via a simple user interface that sends their location and status.
Be notified when Code Red is in private beta.
Code Red will soon be in invite-only beta phase. Interested? Have chronic pain? Sign up! We will only send you the invite link. No newsletters, because we have an app to design, develop and deploy.
The people behind Code Red
Robert and Yasmina in Berlin, Germany.
Hello! We are Robert and Yasmina, and we had the idea of building CodeRed when Yasmina was diagnosed with a medical condition and experienced severe, debilitating pain. You can read more about that on “our chronic pain journey”.
We are designers by education and profession, and we’ve designed everything from remote controls, shavers, medical devices, banking and entertainments services to messaging apps, digital strategies and co-creation workshops. Some of the companies we’ve worked at: Philips Design, frogdesign, Experientia, Vodafone, Nokia, fjord and wire.
Later in our careers, we handled more management roles, but we like to be hands-on. We now freelance as design strategists and are available for consulting opportunities. We call our collaboration “welivelikethis” and you can find our portfolio, homegrown products and design blog there.
